Post your computer specs, if possible.

Have you updated drivers lately? If so, then roll back to the old ones, if not, then update to the new ones.

if above does not help I would try a different monitor cable or a different monitor. That does not look good.

Good choice of monitor manufacturers - Samsung rock.

Bad choice of models - one made since the end of the second world war would probably be better.

Are you running Vista? Do you have a 7900GT or GTX? If so, you are about to have a very not fun thing to have to do. Posty post specs plz. Thanks.

No no no - that's naughty.

It's like this: When someone comes here with a problem, we all try to help as much as we can and then, when the problem has been solved, the solution is added to our well of knowledge.

If you solve the problem yourself, you HAVE to tell us what you did, otherwise nobody learns anything.

Also, we may disagree with what you've learned.

This post is only semi-jocular

I agree with Snograt, I have been watching this thread, please don't leave us hanging! What video card was it? Was it overheating? Come on - tell us!

You do realize that if it was a 7900 series and you are using Vista, the card is fine right? Please say you realize that.

lol, I love you Snog =].
He's right though, without your feedback it doesn't help us with our knowledge base.
I'm glad you have a solution of some kind. Even though I don't make it on enough anymore I still browse past posts. Every now and then we all learn something new or another way to solve the same problems. That's where your feedback comes in.

Lol sorry , ok heres what happened .

My computer , as shown above simply had black and white lines come up on the screen whenever i tried to log on it . (was a compaq) . sometimes this would happen immediately , other times would take 10 - 15 minutes to happen . so when someone came out to sort the computer out they took the asus geforce 6200le graphics card out , which was incredibly hot so it's been taken for testing ( i'll tell you what was wrong wth it when i know ) now without the graphics card seems to be working perfectly well

that just about sums it up , graphics card was a asus geforce 6200le and i'll tell you what was wrong with it when i hear about it

oh btw for the person above i didn't have vista.

It works without the graphics card in? They must have switched you over to the onboard crapporama, temporarily, I guess.

Overheating issue - crap in fan (the reason, not an instruction )

Ah yes, then it was silicon degradation from heat. Vista has a strange issue with the vBIOS of the 7900GT and GTX that causes that EXACT same issue, so that is why I asked.
